He lets people take advantage of him, just like he lets his mom make him feel guilty every opportunity he basically creates. In my opinion, Dennis is not leaving the party because they consumme alcohol. he has some as well ! But rather, because the girls & most particularly his date turns him into a puppet. Again, he himself lets them all take advantage of him. A mature man should not sleep in the same bed as his mother and most particularly when living together ! That's patheticaly freaky !!!

It is a very touching but I can't help noteing that Dennis is creating his own loneliness & sadness. I noticed at least two lies he's made in this short-film. Once he lies to his mother about going out to the movie with his buddy. And then he lies to the girl when saying he lives alone. He spends most of his time with his face looking down revealing his being ashamed & unhappy.
